Partnership and Caring

PROGRAM

In addition to providing “Gifts for Strength and Courage” to individual hospitalized children, Brooke’s Voice Foundation also provides direct funding to many organizations that help hospitalized children in other ways. By providing funding directly to these organizations, Brookes Voice can reach many more children.

The specifics about each organization shown below were cut and paste directly off the existing BVF website:

STARLIGHT CHILDREN’S FOUNDATION
Starlight delivers happiness to seriously ill children and their families. Since 1982, Starlight’s programs have positively impacted more than 21 million critically, chronically, and terminally ill or injured children across the US. With our help, more kids and their families will enjoy Virtual Reality, Hospital Wear, Gaming, and other Starlight programs at children’s hospitals across the country.

SYDNEY LERMAN PEDIATRIC HOSPITALITY PROGRAM
Sydney Lerman Pediatric Hospitality Program wants to let families who have a child in the hospital know that they are not alone even if they don’t have a support network, the Marfan family is there for them. They will provide a customized care package filled with goodies from coloring books and board games to local restaurant gift cards and other basic essentials to help them stay positive.

This year, they put smiles on the faces of kids all over the country who were having surgery because of Marfan or a related condition.

MORGAN STANLEY CHILDLIFE SERVICES
A child’s needs in the hospital are similar to those at home: He or she needs to feel secure, comforted, and able to understand what is going on. These needs are often magnified by the stress of illness and hospitalization. The Child Life program at NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital provides emotional and psychosocial care to help make the hospital experience as manageable as possible for children and their family members.

LOEYS DIETZ FOUNDATION When Brooke was first diagnosed with Loeys Dietz syndrome, she felt very alone. She didn’t know any other kids “like her” and had nobody her own age to talk to about her feelings about LDS. Years later, when our family attended our first LDS Conference, Brooke was able to meet, talk with, and develop wonderful friendships with other children affected by LDS. This was incredibly impactful in Brooke’s life.
With Brooke’s Voice Foundation we want to make it possible for other children suffering from LDS who do not have the financial means to travel to and attend the annual conference, to meet other children like them so they do not feel so alone. With the help of Brooke’s Voice, The Loeys Dietz Foundation was able to award 4 individuals with scholarships this year. Two were awarded the opportunity to attend the Loeys Dietz Conference in Chicago for a weekend in July 2023. The other two recipients were given the opportunity to attend a week-long summer camp, geared towards children with medical challenges, in Atlanta at the end of July.
